SAWAU – Ukerewe Islands

With Sauti ya Wanawake Ukerewe (SAWAU), BIT and MIVA combine water transport and solar energy to reduce the geographical barriers faced by island communities. Motorised boats support medical referrals, maternal healthcare and community outreach, while solar systems strengthen selected schools and health facilities. The featured MIVA campaign follows Dr. Athuman and highlights the urgent need for reliable, life-saving healthcare transport across the Ukerewe Islands.
